Speaker Bios


Suzanne Wainwright-Evans

Suzanne Wainwright-Evans is the owner of Buglady Consulting and is an ornamental entomologist specializing in integrated pest management. Suzanne focuses on biological control and proper pesticide use.


Alan Windham

Dr. Windham is a professor of ornamental and turf pathology, University of Tennessee Soil, Plant and Pest Center at Ellington Agricultural Center in Nashville. His work with greenhouse, nursery, garden center and landscape professionals includes the diagnosis and management of plant diseases.


Alison Reeves

Alison Reeves is the garden manager at the Virginia Tech Dining Services Garden. She received her M.S in Entomology from Virginia Tech and her B.S in Environmental Science from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. Her research focused on honeybees and their hives.

Steve Frank

Dr. Frank’s research and extension programs at N.C. State University focus on pest management in nurseries, greenhouses, and urban landscapes.  His research works on ways to improve biological control techniques as insects develop resistance to insecticides. He helps horticultural professionals make judicious, safe, and effective pest control decisions.


Dominique-Andre Demers

Dominique-Andre Demers is a biocontrol, IPM and pollination consultant for Biobest Canada Ltd. He advises distributors and customers on the use of bio-control/IPM products for effective pest management and on the use of bumblebee hives for pollination. He works with growers throughout Canada and the United States.


Cliff Ruth

Cliff Ruth is an N. C. Cooperative Extension Service Area Agent based in Buncombe County. His focus is on providing workforce training for the nursery, greenhouse and landscape industries.  He facilitates opportunities for recertification credits for professional licenses.
