Water is Everywhere for Brownies and Juniors

May 11 AND May 25, 2013, 1:30-4:30 pm BOTH DAYS

 

Girls will have the chance to learn about the importance of water in the lives of humans, plants, animals and our environment. We will explore where and how water is used, learn what it's like to travel through the water cycle, explore an aquatic habitat, and even spend some time discussing how we can save and protect water as a natural resource. This program is designed for Brownies and Juniors.

 

Things to Bring: Appropriate clothing for the outdoors, water bottle, completed liability/medical form (for scouts without a leader from their unit in attendance)

Adult Minimum: Arboretum educators serve as adults, scout leaders are welcome to attend as well

Adult Maximum: Prefer no more than 2 scout leaders per unit attending

Each registration is a firm commitment to attend. 30-11 days prior to the program start date, half the total fee is refundable. 10-0 days prior to the start date, none of the total fee is refundable. Registration is non-transferable.

DC-MERMerit Badge Challenge, Boy Scouts 2013

Grades Allowed: All Registered Boy Scouts

Join registered merit badge counselor and Eagle Scout Jonathan Marchal in completing five badges in the great outdoors at the Arboretum! We'll focus each day on a new ecology badge, including Reptile and Amphibian Study, Insect Study, Plant Study, Forestry and Landscape Architecture merit badges. Activities will include salamander hunts, collecting plant specimens, visiting with professional plant scientists, planning a garden and using tools to collect and identify aquatic insects. Some badges will require pre-work, which will be covered in an optional meeting on May 4, 2013. Don't miss this opportunity for summer advancement!

Each program is held to a $25.00 cancellation fee (excludes before care). 30-11 days prior to the program start date, half the total fee is refundable. 10-0 days prior to the start date, none of the total fee is refundable.
