Bugs Badge for Brownies

September 5, 2015, 1:00-3:00

 

Brownie Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to earn their Bugs Badge by spending an afternoon at The North Carolina Arboretum. We'll explore the world of bugs, see bugs in action, do bug crafts, and learn more about all that these little creatures do!

 

Things to Bring: Appropriate clothing for the outdoors, water bottle, completed liability/medical form (for scouts without a leader from their unit in attendance)

Adult Minimum: Arboretum educators serve as adults, scout leaders are welcome to attend as well

Adult Maximum: Prefer no more than 2 scout leaders per unit attending

Citizen Scientist Badge for Girl Scouts

October 17, 2015, 1:00-4:00

 

We need girl scientists! Get your notebook and pencil and meet us at the North Carolina Arboretum. Help the staff at the Arboretum conduct science projects and then upload your findings to an online citizen science network. Share your findings with people all around the world.

 

Things to Bring: Appropriate clothing for the outdoors, water bottle, completed liability/medical form (for scouts without a leader from their unit in attendance)

Geocacher and Hiker for Brownies and Juniors

November 7, 2015, 1:00-4:00 pm

 

Junior girls will enjoy a high-tech scavenger hunt through The North Carolina Arboretum while earning your Geocacher Badge. Plan a trip, learn about caches and trade items and explore the trails. This program is designed for Juniors, but if Brownies are in attendance they will have the option of earning their Hiker Badge.

 

Things to Bring: Appropriate clothing for the outdoors, water bottle, completed liability/medical form (for scouts without a leader from their unit in attendance)

Adult Minimum: Arboretum educators serve as adults, scout leaders are welcome to attend as well

Habitats for Juniors

February 20, 2016, 1:00-3:00

 

Scouts will learn about native wild animals at The Arboretum, explore animal habitats, create their own beaver lodges, learn about endangered habitats and learn how to protect animals' homes.
